Santen Acquires Eyevance Shares in Agreement

New York resident and investor, Roger Coleman, owns Coleman Ventures & Coleman Group Partners-based in New York City. As proprietor, Roger Coleman is involved in impacting investing, committing some of the company's returns to his charitable foundation for positive outcomes around the world.

In September 2020, Mr. Coleman helped facilitate a deal between Santen Pharmaceutical Company, Ltd. (Santen) and Eyevance Holdings, LLC (Eyevance) that culminated in the former purchasing all outstanding shares of the latter. Santen is an ophthalmological company specializing in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Eyevance makes topical products for the eyes.

Currently, Santen is the market leader in Japan and patients in 60 other countries use its products. This purchase will allow the company to establish a larger business base in the US while offering patients more value. By gaining access to the US market, they hope to facilitate corporate growth and the ability to contribute to making ophthalmic treatments worldwide.

Disaster Technologies Fights Misinformation with Project Domino

Communities Save Money and Lives With Disaster Preparedness

Roger Coleman, a New York-based entrepreneur, serves as president and chief strategy officer of Disaster Technologies Incorporated, which he co-founded. In this capacity, Roger Coleman supports the New York company’s mission of supplying decision-support technologies to help communities save lives and money by getting prepared to respond to natural disasters.

According to updated findings from the Natural Hazard Mitigation Saves: 2019 Report from Colorado University Boulder, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, communities can achieve significant cost savings through preparedness efforts. For example, up to $11 can be saved for every dollar they invest in simply meeting or exceeding building codes. Communities can also save $4 for every $1 spent on improving utility systems, railroads, and highways, along with a similar mount for measures to protect from wildfires.

Saving money isn’t the only benefit of disaster preparedness, of course. Preparedness also saves lives, and training is critical. The Finnish Red Cross has been teaching winter readiness exercises to residents since 2013, and a simulation exercise in response to flooding was implemented by the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan. Different countries’ coordinated responses to terrorist attacks and other disasters also demonstrate the importance of preparedness.

Barron's Hall of Fame Honors the Best Financial Advisors

New York-based Roger V. Coleman studied international business and marketing at Marist College School of Management, graduating with a bachelor of science in business administration. Now based in Plandome, New York, Roger Coleman acts as a financial advisor and was inducted into the Barron's Advisor Hall of Fame in 2019.

Announced in October, the Barron's Hall of Fame ranks financial advisors who previously appeared on one of the publication's Top 100 lists. Barron's publishes the Top 100 Advisors annually and has been doing so since 2004. In 2006, Barron's began naming the Top 100 Women Advisors, and in 2007 the Top 100 Independent Advisors was launched as another yearly list.

Barron's asks advisors wishing to be included in one of its annual lists to answer over 100 questions about the services they provide. Based on those answers, Barron's selects advisors for each of the annual lists. To get into the Hall of Fame, advisors must have appeared in at least 10 of the Top 100 lists over the last 17 years.
